Maggie Jackson’s legacy of kindness continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families in our community. Through Maggie’s Table Emergency Food Pantry, Spring Lake Family Support Services had the honor of serving 30 hot meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. Maggie’s words, “This is about feeding people,” continue to guide our work and remind us that every meal shared is an opportunity to show compassion, care, and respect.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Maggie Jackson’s family and relatives near and far for their continued support of this annual initiative. Their generous donations of food and gift cards helped make this special day possible and allowed us to honor Maggie’s memory through service. Their love for Maggie and commitment to helping others continue to inspire everyone who takes part in this meaningful effort.
We are especially grateful to Kimberly Jackson McKenzie for her generous donation and support. Because of the kindness shown by Maggie’s family, friends, and community supporters, families were able to receive Food Lion gift cards to help purchase groceries and other essential food items. These gift cards provided immediate assistance to recipients who are facing food insecurity and helped bring comfort and relief to families in need.
We also want to thank every person who donated food, prepared meals, volunteered time, and helped make this initiative successful. A special thank you goes to our delivery team for making sure the hot meals reached individuals in need throughout the community. Your time, care, and dedication helped ensure that each meal was delivered with kindness and respect.
Each year on September 5th, Maggie’s birthday, Spring Lake Family Support Services will continue our food drive and feed our community in Maggie Jackson’s memory. Maggie’s Table is more than a meal. It is a reminder that kindness can bring people together and create lasting change. Our Emergency Food Pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We also deliver food to individuals in Spring Lake who do not have transportation. With continued community support, we will keep honoring Maggie’s legacy by serving others with love and compassion.

On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, Spring Lake Family Support Services Center at The Kinsey House received the Kindness Award from the Partnership for Children of Cumberland County. This honor recognizes the center’s compassionate leadership, dedication to families, and ongoing service to the Spring Lake community. We at Spring Lake Family Support Services are grateful and deeply thankful for this meaningful award.

The Kinsey House began with a shared vision between Richard Alan Kinsey and Debora Hudson, whose friendship grew into a commitment to supporting local families. In 2020, Alan donated his family home to Spring Lake Family Support Services, asking that it be named The Kinsey House in memory of his mother, Nell. Her love for the community continues to inspire the center’s work.

The Partnership for Children recognized The Kinsey House for its meaningful outreach, including its support of the Butterfly Kisses, Baby Wishes community baby shower in May 2026. This award celebrates the center’s kindness, compassion, and continued efforts to help families feel valued, supported, and connected. We are honored to receive this recognition and remain committed to serving families throughout our community.

Spring Lake Family Support Services (SLFSS) is honored to recognize the generosity of First Impressions Academy of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Last week, our team received a call that immediately brought hope and excitement. On June 1st, 2026, the school delivered a thoughtful donation of canned goods and hygiene essentials for our food pantry. These items were collected during their First Impressions Academy Food Drive held from May 25th to May 29th, 2026, an effort rooted in compassion and a shared desire to support families in need. As one organizer expressed, “Helping others is how we show what our community stands for.”

We extend our deepest appreciation to the students who personally dropped-off the donation: Atticus Smith, Alyson Wizccak, Akari Bando, and Lailana Breg of the Beta Club National Honor Society. Their kindness, leadership, and willingness to serve reflect the values that shape strong communities. We are grateful for their commitment and proud to partner with organizations that choose to uplift others with sincerity and purpose.

Spring Lake Family Support Services (SLFSS) is deeply grateful for the unexpected generosity shown by Spartan Race Inc., Spring Lake, NC (7765 McCormick Bridge Rd, Spring Lake, NC 28390). On April 29th, 2026, we were surprised and truly moved to receive an email offering an extraordinary donation of Vandy Crisps (https://vandycrisps.com) for our community. Acts of kindness like this do more than fill shelves. They remind us that compassion still shows up unannounced, ready to make a difference. Ms. Samantha Lassman reached out with sincerity and purpose, and her message immediately resonated with our mission to serve families with dignity and care.

The scale of this donation is remarkable, but what touched us most was the heart behind it. As Samantha shared, they wanted to see the product “go to good use in the community rather than go to waste.” That simple statement reflects a spirit of stewardship and community partnership that we value deeply. Thanks to Spartan Race Inc., we are now able to place these snacks directly into the hands of our clients, many of whom are facing difficult times. Something as small as a bag of chips can bring joy, comfort, and a sense of being remembered.

Cargill of Fayetteville awarded a generous donation to Spring Lake Family Support Services on April 28, 2026, a moment that energized our mission and reminded us why community partnerships matter. SLFSS CEO and Founder Ms. Debora Hudson proudly received the contribution, calling it “a powerful example of corporate giving that truly enriches communities.” This donation will directly meet urgent needs in our community by providing essentials such as food, clothing, hygiene items, and safe housing support for individuals and families who are struggling. It also allows our organization to support women and children in crisis with immediate care and stability, fund programs that promote self-sufficiency including job readiness and life skills, and respond quickly to emergency situations without delay. This funding will provide emergency assistance for families at risk of homelessness and ensures we can continue offering a one-stop-shop for unmet needs in our community. Cargill’s commitment to nourishing the world, protecting the planet, and strengthening local neighborhoods shines through moments like this, especially as their global giving surpassed one hundred sixty three million dollars in Fiscal Year 2022.

This gift is especially meaningful because Cargill’s grant process is invite only, underscoring the honor of being selected. Their corporate giving philosophy emphasizes supporting organizations that uplift the very communities where their teams live and work. That passion was felt deeply during this award presentation, reinforcing the shared belief that “strong communities grow when businesses and nonprofits work hand in hand.”

When Spring Lake Family Support Services at the Kinsey House faced a critical infrastructure challenge, needing to repair our old storage shed while still needing a secure place to hold vital donated items for survivors, we knew we needed a partner with a big heart.
